Vanishing windows and doors

I think this has been discussed before but I couldnt find it in the searches.
I have a problem where my doors and windows disappear when the layer of the wall is changed. This doesnt seem to be affected by the fact that both wall layers are showing????
Anybody else have this problem and have a solution without having to make all walls on the same layer. Thanks in advance.

I forgot to mention that they only vanish when I import the plans into Plotmaker. They are there in AC but do not show in PM. Very Strange.

two things to check:

1. if you're using views to provide the link between the archiCAD project and the plotmaker layout, you need to check that the display option combination saved with the view in archiCAD hasn't got the doors and windows set to 'Reflected Ceiling Plan'.

2. library loading: again, using archiCAD views as the project>layout link, background archiCAD has to load the same libraries as normal archiCAD in order to display library parts in plotmaker. ensure that BGarchiCAD has access to the libraries . . .

it happens at our office as well (on very random basis). The best is to delete the drawing from the book and re-import it again. It has always worked for us.

Unfortunatley Ben I dont know how to ensure that background AC loads the right libraries. Please advise if you may. I also tried reimporting the layout but that didnt work.

With some tinkering I found that the window and door layers in PM were hidden??????? I thought when a view was imported to PM it brought the attributes of the layout with it???

Anyway to fix the problem I found I had to take the following steps in PM:

Navigator/Settings/Attribute Update Rules/Custom For the Drawing/ Untick Layers/Attributes/Edit Layers/Show Windows and Doors and Wall Layers that are hidden or partially hidden.

this is normally only an issue when you are using a different computer on the same network to perform the plotmaker updates: BGarchiCAD on the plotmaker machine tries to resolve a file path somewhere on the local disk of the archiCAD machine that it doesn't have access to . . . maybe not applicable in your case.

only when the update rules (as you have correctly surmised) are set to overwrite any changes you may have made in plotmaker with the archiCAD view attributes.

this could actually be a bug: what you're saying is that archiCAD's view attributes were set to overwrite any changes you've made in plotmaker to the drawing . . . but the special door/window layers that plotmaker creates are coming in hidden by default?

I seem to be having this problem. I trieed to go into BGarchiCAD to update the libraries but the Libraries Manager is greyed out. How do I direct it to the right library?

I had the same problem yesterday for the first time. I did what Rob had suggested and they reappeared when I imported again.
