custom door leaf subtype missing

I've seen this 2-3x. custom door leafs show empty/missing in the model. the library part in the door settings still show the door leaf type being saved, but when I open the custom leaf from the library manager, the subtype shows <unknown subtype>.
Its an easy enough fix to redefine the subtype and save over the leaf. It even repopulates to the doors without needing to edit them. so it's really just a minor nuisance.

I could assume it is user error some of the times it's happened. Its really easy to mistakenly save over the custom leaf as a door instead of door leaf. But today, I was cleaning a file that the team has not touched the doors for over a week, and they were fine yesterday.
anyone else see this issue, or know what the trigger may be?

I am guessing that this custom door was created prior to version 28?

Old library objects are not compatible with the new global library packages, and this includes custom objects.

See this post and it will tell you what you need to do to fix them.

this is the sort of thing that should be addressed in an update. No reason an architect or designer should be expected to redo all their custom door leafs after migrating a file.
