gsm objects

I've got some probably basic questions. How do you:
1. convert 3ds. objects into gsm. files (to use them in Archicad)
2. open 3ds. models in Artlantis just to add them into your project?

3. What to do when dwarfs of downloaded gsm objects (from archibase.com) don't display?

1. You need the 3ds import add on. See Help > ArchiCAD Downloads

2. I don't know Artlantis.

i mean thumbnails/icons showing the miniature/ small picture of downloaded object do you know how to solve it?

2. As I know you can merge 3ds files to an existing project in Artlantis. Find more: http://www.artlantis.com/
3. Do you miss the preview picture of the downloaded object in Object Settings dialog? Which object did you download? Tip: list of ArchiCAD object download sites: http://archicadwiki.com/LinkCollection/GDLObjectDownloads

You need to open the object, render a 3D View, then paste this (or any bitmap image) into the Preview Picture window of the object, then save the object.

You should add a Signature to your Profile (click the Profile button near the top of this page) with your ArchiCAD version and operating system (see mine for an example) for more accurate help in this forum.

I've read on one of the forums that Graphisoft Shell Extension is incompatible with Vista- probably that's why I cannot see the thumbnails of downloaded gdl objects? Does anyone know the solution for that? Thanks in advance.
