missing objects

I have made several custom objects and placed them into my project. After closing the project and opening after a couple of weeks, the objects do not show. After clicking on the position dot, they are now located in a folder called Missing Objects. I cannot get them open from this folder.
How do I get them back into my project and save so this does not happen again?

When you made the objects you had to save them somewhere.
That somewhere was probably a folder and that folder is
not in the loaded libraries for your project.
I would use the OS find function to find those objects
and move them to either one of the loaded library folders
or place them in a new folder and "Add" that folder to the
loaded libraries in your project.

For every project, make a folder called projectname.lib in the main project folder. Save all the custom library parts in it, and all eh staircases that you do. Load it as the part of the loaded library (just drag across to the right in the Library manager).

If you create this habit, you will always know where your objects are ...

Maybe it's just my paranoia but I always tell people to avoid using a . (point/dot/period/full stop) in any file naming convention. Maybe it doesn't matter as much with folder names rather than file names, or with newer and cleverer operating systems.

For me, a . is where the file name ends and the file extension begins. And if there's any chance of cross platform file exchanges it just makes things safer. Use a _ or - instead...

This is not a name of the file, but of a folder. Therefore a dot IS separating the name from the extension, that does not necessarily have to be there. I have the same DOS embedded fears as you do but still have accepted that you can do some things in newer Windows that would cause havoc earlier ...

An underscore or a space can be used as well and would be clean and correct way of naming, without any ambiguities.
