Memory Problems?

Greetings, I'm an arch student who recently installed AC10 onto an Intel Mac, and everything has been going swimmingly, until recently. Elements in the 3d window will begin to have trails (think acid trip) and input in any window (plan / elevation, etc) is severely hampered. I no longer have a marque or anything, and when I click to move something on the screen, it dosent show where the object will be placed until I actually place it.

I may be describing it poorly, but its a severely limiting and frustrating problem.

The only solution that I have found is to shut down and restart the computer.

BTW - stats on the comp are dual 2.16 ghz intels, 512mb ATI Radeon x1600 and 2gigs of ram.

Please help,
Thanks

It does sound like memory and video driver problems. Does it happen with a fresh file, with a large file, after some time, immediately ... ?

Been working with the file for half a semester. 30k square feet. Not too much sophistication, b/c im still learning how to build so that sections come out correctly.

Happens after about an hour and a half. Only 8.5 meg file.

Are there some basic "best practice" concepts that I could be missing that would cause the problem?

Just attempted to update the drivers, they were current.

Any other ideas?

What about sloppy model making?

This can cause overload ...

Did you maybe use some 3ds models? They are a memory hog, for example.
