3D Cutaway toggle - is it real?

as you can see in the attached image even if i don't have this option active i stiil see the building with cutaway plane.
there is no 3D cutting plane defined, also.

please help!

Did you try the "delete all cutting planes" in 3d cutting planes
I've tried that, and it does not solve the problem.

Not really, when you think about it.

Round knobs have gazilions of polygons; they can put quite a strain on the OpenGL engines/processors, who then clip away what is not seen of the model ...

... just guessing here, but it sounds probable

Just want to eliminate the obvious. 3D Cutaways are stored with 3D views. You're not reactivating a saved view are you? This just happens when you go to the 3D window (in the Project Map) right?
