Another beginner question. What is the best way to convert a 3D elevation (for example) into a 2D drawing and if possible keep the 3D version. So near the end of a project detail can be added, lines can be trimmed, etc. Thanks.
do as millard says, or:
rather than duplicate the entire sect/elev line, duplicate the
contents
of the existing elevation window - you cannot
create 3D elements from a section or elevation window, so simply 'Select All' in the elev window, 'Copy' and then 'Paste'. before you complete the paste command, drag everything 100 metres or so up the page (when i do this i tend to drag it by the ordinance reference level offset so that i can still use level dimensioning easily).
this keeps the 'live' model information in the same window as your 2D drawing of it, and means you can see any changes that have been made to the model at the same time. i would set the sect/elev to 'Manual Rebuild' and update it as and when necessary.
