3D window in v.10

I've run across a problem with my model in 3d. It shows up fine if I am in axonomtry. It's very difficult to view in perspective - impossible if I want to look at the whole model - do able if I use a marquee. As I move the model around it disappears like it is being cut at some kind of invisible plan. Any suggestions?
