AC10 Keys not working on Powerbook

I cannot get some of the most helpful features of AC10 to work on my G4 17" Powerbook. The one that irritates me the most is the roof trimming. First, I can only select on roof plan at a time because the shift key is not working. I does not lock in angles or allow me to select multiple items. Once I have a roof selected, when I go to extend on plane to another I do not get the scissors icon when holding down the apple key. When I click on the second plane, it selects the second roof and deselects the first (in 2d and 3d both). I have the default keyboard settings selected in both Mac OS 10.4.8 as well as AC10. The files work fine on my desktop computer so I know it is not a file issue. I have also plugged in another keyboard to my powerbook and the same keys do not work correctly.

Has anyone else been experienceing the loss of key functions? Any sugggestions of how to fix this issue would be greatly appreciated.
