AC11 is full with bugs - going back to 10!

I write this post to express my deepest disappointment with AC11.

It is the buggiest version I have ever worked with! It has even more bugs than AC8!

Today I finally decided to go back to AC10!

Even the curved Custom profiles and Trace&Reference are not enough to make up for the poor release! I would gladly trade them for stability!

It is offending to the users to release such a raw and unstable product to the market. I suppose this is due to the 1-year-development-period for new versions. If so, this is a bad direction for Graphisoft.

...such as??? The one thing I have a really hard time with is the broken Grid Tool, all other known bugs I've found workaroundable. What (specifically) has made you turn back?

While there are still some issues with 11...people are actually getting work done with it, which is more than could be said for 8. With 8, it was wise to save your file before nearly every action since you never knew what would cause it to crash. If you have anything close to that with 11, then something is amiss with your installation I think...

PS Since I have had at least one offline discussion about it this week: To anyone reading who is using 8: a reminder that NOBODY should be using 8. Version 8.1 was a free upgrade to all 8 users and if you did not receive 8.1, contact your reseller for a free CD and download the final hotfix and library update.

good for you!!

no, now seriously,

we are fairly happy with AC11. Apart from early hick-ups with the grid tool and some TW layouting everything seems to chug along rather nicely. I cannot see any reason for going back to AC10

oh for God sake stop this whinging...look at the different software and the actual differences between its two consecutive versions. What are you expecting in a year time cycle?
Microsoft had spent 5 years to deliver a fairly ordinary upgrade called vista...

hey kliment, dont go back to 10...a new hotfix is about to come out and will probably fix your issues......i only have had one issue that upset me and it was with speed....but i dont remmeber when or if was my file or a hot fix but i cannot complaint anymore, not as quick as 9 but no terrible either...11 has a lot of hidden goodies that you will miss going back...i do agree with you on the yearly cycle....that i dont buy it..as a matter of fact i cancelled subscription....a year is too short for a our company, as soon as people start gett'g productive and confidence about the new version, the new version is out and 'kill the joy'...i would take it if as soon as i install the new version, no bugs, no issues with libraries, a zero issue with switching, i would understand it and take..but start testing again, 2 unproductive and mentally diminishing......the way the software industry works, you need to upgrade when the version has been out for at least a year and let other people do the testing...(out the office i love to waste my time play'g with a new version though )

edit: you are just upset cuz coudnt buy the vertical mouse !!!

Raul, that's a direct hit! My sentiments exactly.

The few hundred dollars we saved by subscribing when upgrading to two seats of AC11 were nothing compared to the lost time troubleshooting and working around the bugs.

I don't understand the reasoning here. No one is forcing you to upgrade as soon as the new version CD arrives. You'll save the same amount if you delay installing the new versions for six months or so, until a few hotfixes are released. I won't install Leopard on the 26th of Ocober either - some time in February 08 will be OK I guess.
