AC28 Crash in placing a newly created favorite garage door for a template.

Hi all, I was working on a template file in AC28 (Latest Build). I placed an old favorite garage door and then edited its display parameters and size. Then I went to select it from the library in order to place it in another wall but it crashed the program. I tried a couple more times and the same result.

From memory some were having problems with favorites in AC27 ?

I suspect that the change to a global library in AC28 might be to blame in this instance ? I will probably need to start with a native AC28 library garage door object and edit it from there. Or otherwise I could create a CI tools garage door from the AC28 CI library ?

If you have favourites from a 27 or older file, they will not work with the 28 library.

They will still try to place object from the 27 library (if that is loaded).

As objects do not migrate from 27 to 28, neither do the favourites.

There is a favourite converter or you can manually edit or create new favourites.

I don't know why placing the door from the library caused a crash, that should not be happening.

Hi Barry, I edited a very old favorite garage door to display more correctly. I do have AC28 library components loaded. I might try and remove all the AC28 libraries and see if that fixes the issue ? If not it could be that the old favorite is just too old (Most likely back to AC13).

Edited: After removing the AC28 library, all the library parts were removed even though the migrated libraries were still in place. I tried again and AC28 also crashes when I try and pick up the parameters of the newly created favorite garage door with the eye dropper in order to place it another wall.

Solution for now was to back save the file as AC27 file and open it in AC27 (6000). I was able to place the garage door in another wall and I could also pick up the parameters of the newly created favorite in order to place it.

I think AC28 is still a bit dodgy for me to be working on new template file for now.

But is the old favourite calling the 27 object (or older) or the 28 object.

If it is calling the 28 object, possibly parameters could be different in the new 28 object but the favourite is still trying to set the old 27 parameters.

Probably best to delete the old favourite and create a new one for the 28 door.

I think that would probably be the best solution in going forward with using AC28 ? I will give it a try this week sometime.
