AC9 Polygon test

Rod Jurich
Contributor
Greetings all,
First post. If what I ask has been addressed before then point me in the direction of results, thanks.

Please test the polygon tool in either the line or fill or slab or wall tools. (AC9)

By test I mean try beginning a irregular polygon line/fill etc by typing in 'x' & 'y' coordinates then enter to begin task and see what happens. On my Mac after entering, the 1st node flashes but it is not possible to continue the chosen task.

If you want to place and extend a single line or a regular fill rectangle by this method then all is ok.

Let me know if this is a bug in apple only.

On my PC I move the mouse and can continue ... try typing another x and y value or moving the mouse and see what happens.

Have tested your problem as best as I understand your posting - by entering coordinates using the keyboard only to create an irregular slab, polyline or fill on Mac:

seems to work fine.....

are you sure you have the irregular form turned on in the dialog?

I can't reproduce your problem on a Mac (OS 10.3.7) or PC (WinXP)

Thanks to all for replies. Djordje's suggestion has same result, and I'm not sure what you mean Dwight. Fill & slabs give you just 3 choices to draw and yes I have selected the irregular box to draw an irregular shaped fill/slab/roof or a polyline. I am glad that Woody has no problem either, so I may trying to reinstall AC9.

i haven't rushed back to my laptop to test, but what you are describing sounds very much like a bug we found in our office during beta testing and one which must've slipped the net.

if i recall correctly, you can't type the second node into the coordinate box when a really obscure series of eventualities are all met at the same time (kinda like a total eclipse of the sun by way of the moon, venus and mercury).

i'll trawl back through my emails and see what i can find later, but off the top of my head try it without the pet-palette set to 'follow me' ???

i'll be back . . .

Setting the pet palette to "Follow Cursor" does not replicate the problem on Windows XP

Thanks Ben, setting Pet Palette movement to:- Jump to preferred position, rectifies the problem. I would appreciate other Mac users to test again with Pet Palette set to :- Follow cursor, to confirm that it is a bug in mac only.
By the way reinstalling 9 again changed nothing.

Tested this on my Mac this morning. Went into the WE and set the pet palette to Follow Cursor... still worked fine. But when I called up a new drawing (use last settings; so WE is still set to Follow Cursor) I replicated your problem.

I had not thought of calling up a new drawing before testing this on my Windows XP machine yesterday but when I did today after trying it on the Mac, I replicated the problem on the PC as well. However, after quitting ArchiCAD and restarting with the same settings, the Follow Cursor worked.

Tried playing around on the Mac and got it to work in Follow Cursor mode but something seems to be wrong here.
