Dear All,

Today we have started to release the first ARCHICAD 21 Update publicly. The update is already available for the INT, AUS, UKI, USA, GER and AUT languages through ARCHICAD’s Check For Updates feature. The update will be available for the rest of the language versions as soon as it passes our Quality Control.

You can read the Release Notes and download the Update packages from here:
- ARCHICAD 21 Update 4022 & BIM Server 21 Update 4003
- BIMcloud 21 Update 4003

Best regards,

Has this resolved the unsuccessful fix found in preview 4004 to the issue:

230368 USER INTERFACE: For Ultra High Definition (4K) screens, mouse cursor appeared small inside ARCHICAD in Windows 10 with Display Scaling enabled. ?

As reported elsewhere, this fix is only temporary when applied and does not survive reboot of affected PC.

Only way to restore mouse pointer size every time is to use ArchiCAD application compatibility settings, click to enable 'override of high DPI scaling', then open ArchiCAD, exit ArchiCAD and reboot PC, then toggle off compatibility settings again, then reopen ArchiCAD again. Not really very acceptable as a required daily ritual (or more often)

Hello Paul King,

I have posted the solution for your problem in the original thread about this issue.

In most cases installing the update should solve the issue, but sometimes (like in case of Paul King) this fix won't change a thing. In these cases you will have to manually set the cursor size from the Registry. You can find a full description of this issue and the solution in this Article:

Good Luck!

It seems that the required HDPI cursor scaling registry key is not actually present by default - perhaps that is why the update 4004 was not sustaining any increases in cursor size?

EDIT** I found that manually adding this registry entry, and giving it value 150 (dec), the mouse pointer size fix survives reboot of pc and is still larger.

I would suggest that workarounds requiring registry edits are not desirable however, and even when they work just right for one monitor, they may then mess things up when another ArchiCAD session is opened on another (maybe lower resolution) monitor in a multi-monitor setup?
I would be interested to know what prevents ArchiCAD from auto detecting the required scaling from the windows context in just a few cases like mine?

We plan to include this solution in the next update for ARCHICAD 20 as well (due to be released until the end of this year).

Just confirming that neither update 4022 nor the registry hack have permanently solved the small mouse pointer problem. For while the registry hack worked for preview patch 4004, but eventually (for reasons unknown - but apparently NOT due to any further windows update) it stopped working. The registry entry is still there unchanged from when it was working.

Installing 4022, the mouse pointer remained small, but also seemed to have broken right justified, centred and full justified label text display (at least).

In an attempt to roll back to patch 4004, I did a windows restore, to a few days prior to installation of patch 4022 . Weirdly, this restore did not change the ArchiCAD version number (still showing 4022) but both the small mouse pointer and the misbehaving label text issues seem to have gone away again (for now). To my knowledge there have been no windows updates or other system changes or any new applications installed over the relevant period, so this behaviour is a mystery.

** EDIT 11/10/17 - and now the small mouse pointer issue has returned, and I can confirm is NOT fixed by the registry hack, nor any longer by the compatibility DPI scaling toggle trick. ArchiCAD 21 is just broken

If you use the latest updated version of the CADimage Title #1590, this problem goes away . Apparently issue is caused by ArchiCAD no longer supporting 'old school' AutoText
