Activate Reference X Switch Reference with active

What is the difference between Activate Reference and Switch Reference with active?
The help file don't cover any information about Activate Reference...
Any clue?

Activate Reference will take you to the Reference viewpoint. Just like you're navigating.

Switch Reference with Active - will actually switch the existing viewpoint with the reference viewpoint. So it effectively changes the reference as well.

So one navigates and the other navigates and switches the reference.
