Adding a New Point to a Mesh

Hello everybody,

I've recently bumped into a very frustrating problem. I have drawn a simple mesh (using polygonal geometry method) and I simply wanted to add a new point to it. So, I selected my mesh, selected mesh tool; with space bar (magic wand) pressed, I clicked somewhere inside the contour of the mesh. The "Add New Points" dialog appeared, clicked "Ok", but with no result; no new point was added.
Tried another approach; I've placed a hotspot inside the contour. Selected the mesh, activated the mesh tool and (while pressing space bar) double clicked on the hotspot. Nothing happened.
So, am I doing something wrong? I've read somewhere on this Forum that adding new points to a mesh is sometimes tricky. Does anyone know a reliable method for doing this? (and I'm not talking about drawing lines inside the mesh)

Thank you in advance.

Adrian,

You have to have the mesh selected and the mesh tool selected (so far so good). Then just click your points inside the original mesh, there is no need for the space bar.

To add a single point double click in one location. For a ridge add at least two points. For a new contour, at least three points in a closed polygon.

Hi Erich,
You've put an end to an hour of anger and frustrations
Guess I was sticking so hard to my method (and I was so convinced it has worked for me before) that I couldn't see any other possibility.
Thank you so much for your quick reply.

Also, if you want to add a single point, then select the Polygon under the Geometry Method in the Tool Bar.

Yes, in fact it must be set to the polygonal geometry method to work at all.
