Adding halftone or fading model elements

Hi,

I'm working on a project where the building is being designed in two phases. I want to show both phases on my plans, elevations etc. I want to show phase 1 in normal representation but i want phase 2 to be faded out, to say that it's in the future. Is it possible to just lighten the colour of everything in phase 2 so it doesn't look as bold as phase one? I'm having particular issues with the zones because i want to show the zone categories in the same colours as phase 1 but i want them to be faded out so it's clear on the plan that they are in the different phase.

Thanks

If it is just the layout drawings that you are trying to fade, have you tried placing a 50% (or some other value) white fill over them?

You could also try duplicating and fading your pen set but you would need to create separate views for phase 1 and phase 2 so you could save each pen set with those views.
Not sure this will work with zones as they don't really use the pen sets.
You may have to create new phase 2 zones.

Another trick may be to use the 'Marked Distance Area' in the elevations and sections.
This will automatically fade and thin the current pen set.

Or of course you can use the renovation filters.
Just use "existing" as phase 1 and "new" as phase 2.
Then you can override the elements - but they will all be one pen colour and not a range of lighter colours.

Thanks Barry. I tried using a fill but it just didn't work. Even at 20% or similar it just creates a white box over everything (not just zones but walls, stairs etc) and doesn't really show any transparency. So not sure what I'm doing wrong there.

I did an override of the zone fill of each zone in phase 2, to be at 10%, which has faded it somewhat. And it might have to do for now. I'll try out the marked distance area in the elevations.

Thanks

Check if fill background color is set to transparent.
Hope that helps.
