Practically usable only for schematic placement of furniture.
How is that different?
Well, they have like 2 types of railings and 3 types of chairs. Don't take these numbers for granted, libraries are really poor and AFAIK objects aren't parametric as in GDL.

From what I can tell in this conversation some of you have tried Revit and the judgements you leveled on their libraries that ship may be somewhat fair, but I must say that its a hell of a lot easier to manipulate their library parts then the ones in ArchiCAD. And if you are going to make a comment that they only have 2 or 3 railings, it doesn't matter because to make a custom railing in Revit is ridiculously easy. I would even go further as to say that in Revit those railings are a lot more flexible. Their libraries are parametric also.

And at least the curtain wall too in Revit actually works. Geez, what does it take to have someone correctly code a curtain wall tool? I've been upset about that for some time now...

I am not here to bash Revit or promote ArchiCAD or vice versa ( I use both), but some of these facts are being skewed to a biased viewpoint.

Im going to stick my neck out here and have a go at the release date for Archicad 10.

5th April 2006 ...
I've owned Archicad since 1992. Major releases usually occur every 18 to 24 months (like Adobe's, or just a little more often than Microsoft's 😉 )

And then there is the production and localisation delay... I'd say an April announcement would mean delivery of U.S. and Int versions in June-July, and localized versions in September-November. But I tend to be pessimistic, having been disappointed so many times. 😞

Yup...No sooner than June I think. I've seen the process over the years, and they are unfortunately almost never ready when you want it.
That said...I hope it's soon.

You guys are muscling in on my turf as the prognosticator of all things dire and gloomy. However, even I was more optimistic than you on this. I was hoping for next month (at least for the US version). As I said, when I foolishly bought a subscription, the reseller said February......

Still, you guys are minor leages compared to this prediction.

Chazz,

Never believe your reseller on a hard date like that. I was a reseller for quite a while, and we never have a firm date given to us like that. So I think it is rather bad form to give a launch date when no one has given you a confirmed shipping date...

Here's a new website to put your money where your mouth is:

www.betonarchicad10releasedate.com

I am, however, reminded of a terrible thing that happened up North one year where a new guy came to the research camp and there was a football game on the TV. He wanted to bet but he didn't know that it was a rerun.

Like the rest of us did. Too bad for him.

Now get back to work.
