I am going to go out on a limb to make a prediction;
I think VICO is going to loosen the grip they have on their software,
making it more availabe to ArchiCAD users in the form of plug-ins, add-ons, what ever you want to call it.
By that I mean we will be able to upgrade to Constructor (if thats what you want to call it) with out having to also buy, and subscribe to as many of the other programs they are requireing you to by with it at this time.[/quote wrote:
That would work for me!! I have tried to contact VICO to ask if I can somehow make the change but I get no response from them. My question is : Does VICO actually exist? or Is it the equilivent of an "answering service" that hasn't answered the phone?

I do what I think is appropriate for my work. Why shouldn't I provide a take off? I know how. I never actually joined that club anyway.. thought it was pretty silly, and your statement underscored my opinion of it (BS):) Oh my.. I must be one of those.Rick wrote:Is this a part of your standard scope of work or do you charge an extra fee for this service? Isn't it against the AIA standards of professional practice for architects to take responsibility of quantities?
Residential builders want a spreadsheet with quantity takeoffs for the plans they use.

Just from curiosity - are you an architect or architect builder? I say it from both sides - for a long time I worked for residential company, and we never have been providing takeoffs - unless we have been paid extra (once I remember) - and the we used tools included in AC
