"Where's the money" It is not in the calc function for Graphisoft... but it is important for my wallet. Residential builders want a spreadsheet with quantity takeoffs for the plans they use.
Just one more time my 2 cents.
Why architect would need connection with estimating software?

I say it from both sides - for a long time I worked for residential company, and we never have been providing takeoffs - unless we have been paid extra (once I remember) - and the we used tools included in AC. Not the most fancy way - but using Constructor tools - probably would not help - it requires a lot of in front work with setting standards, databases - and the produce is full estimate not just material takeoff. It is like going to "kill the fly with the tank". If you know what I mean.Miki wrote:I don't know much about the commercial world, never did, never will... but, in the residential world providing a material takeoff is important, and there are a lot of us out there who only have interest in that world. Worth the price if you use it on the daily basis.
If it help you to know how many AC users are interested in the calc functions, I have been providing a download link ( http://www.thompsonplans.com/files/TappingCalcMenu.pdf ) to a user manual a reseller gave me. I was told it was for resellers so they could learn how to instruct their clients how to use it (don't think it worked). I have only posted that link a few times, and I have had 495 AC users download that manual just this year.As I mentioned - I still think Calculate menus could have few more options.

Rick Thompson is right on.
