Dear Archi-Talkers,

We have been working with some of you on some issues that have arisen with R2. Since we are not able to personally contact all of you, I would like you to know that we are taking these issues very seriously and we are working 7/24 to resolve them. We will be making a patch available to you very soon and will keep you posted on when you can expect it.

We very much apologize for the inconvenience these issues have caused and let me assure that in addition to getting these issues resolved very quickly, we are also working on steps to insure they do not arise again in the future. I want to thank everyone for your support and hope that we can earn your trust.

dominic,
welcome to archicad talk! i really appreciate your posting in regard to this topic, it shows that graphisoft is taking upgrade problems seriously and is willing to admit there have been a few problems. gergley kmethy called me this morning, gave me a few more troubleshooting options & sent an email describing steps in more detail. thanks gergley! it is great to know my problem is still being studied.
i hope you did not receive too many bugreports after my earlier post. it was primarily done in jest!

You (and me) can hardly welcome the host in his own house ...

As I pointed out many times, the Bug Reports should be sent to your respective tech support email addresses; if there is no such email address, then to the regional disctributors, and in the last instance to the people you know from the Forum who are the tech support people in Budapest, like Greg.

Tim,

Not to worry. I did not receive "too many" bug reports. Actually, if you want to get any bugs resolved, I am the worst possible guy to send them to 😉

Thanks for all your input. We will get there...

i have now successfully updated to 2256 & pm3.1r2 will now launch bg ac!
having explored most other options, graphisoft sent me an 2256 cd. i updated form that cd and did not need to go through the deinstall, clean, reinstall process. i also removed the wibu key before updating.
i would like to thank this forum's users and dave tauer w/gs us and gergely kmethy w/ gs hu for all their assistance.

I am now successfully working in r2!!!
Andor Szőke of Graphisoft Budapest was great, even calling me on the phone to work it out. They had discovered that there are still problems with not only the curtain wall part but also the W steel column I was using.

Replacing the parts didn't seem to work.
I put on my glasses and while trying another clean install of r2 noticed that when you install the library updater that in the tiny print it is telling you to remove the old library or rename it and install the r2 library in its place. I had been overwriting the library. I renamed my r1 library just in case and now ArchiCAD is automatically is using the r2 parts and life is good.
Thanks Andor.

There is a new (as of yesterday) bug fixing patch @

http://tr.graphisoftus.com/

Here are the release notes;

TeamWork Hot-Fix for 8.1 R2/v2
This hot-fix patch has been released to address the most significant problems emerged with 8.1 R2/v2. We also continue to work on fixing other problems and we are going to release an R2+ version at a later time. The current hot-fix can be used for updating all the existing 8.1 versions (R1, R1 Patch, R2) {}. It means this patch contains all bug-fixes released after 8.1 R1/v1. ArchiCAD 8 users first have to upgrade to ArchiCAD 8.1 before they can use this patch for having the most current version of ArchiCAD.

The following major inconsistencies are addressed in this hot-fix:

- Can't access network library through library manager in Mac OSX.3.2
- Can't access local library through library manager on Mac OS 10.3
- Fonts replaced in Teamwork when different font-sets are used
- Missing label text in TeamWork
- Custom R1 keyboard Shortcuts cannot be imported into R2
- Crash after receive changes in teamwork
- Copy paste error with locked 2D element
- Insert Above/Below Story in Navigator can cause wrong elevations

Compatibility note:
This hot-fix does not update IFC add-ons. The R1/v1 version of the IFC add-on is incompatible with later versions of ArchiCAD. If you utilize IFC we highly recommend downloading the IFC 2x2 Add-On for AC 8.1 R2/v2 to avoid serious problems. The IFC 2x2 add-on is available on our website [http://www.graphisoft.com/products/ifc/beta_download/] for download.

Macintosh:
Download the appropriate patch file for your localized language version of ArchiCAD.
Unstuff the file's contents to a folder.
Run the updater application.
Locate the installed ArchiCAD's folder with the installer if necessary.
The system might require you to give an administrator password in order to be able to modify ArchiCAD (the application itself).

Windows:
Download the appropriate updater archive and unzip it.
Run the updater.
Locate the installed ArchiCAD's folder if necessary. (You need to be able to modify the installed ArchiCAD application which might necessitate to run the updater with administrator rights).
Note that the application ArchiCAD must not be running when running the updater.
After successfully finishing the update process, the application ArchiCAD should display (2275) in the Help menu / 'About ArchiCAD®...' window in the lower right corner.

So far so good. For the first time in the last 8 months, we can now access our networked computers while in the library manager. before, the network computers would show up in the the library manager, but if you tried to open them they would disappeared. No problems what so ever with of 8.1V2. Guess it is time to change my signature.
