You will need ArchiCAD 10 to complete the file migration. When AC10 is installed there is documentation on converting AC9 to AC10. If memory serves me, it is in the Help Menu>AC10 New Features Guide.

Once your model and layout book is together in AC10, open with AC11.
Be certain to download the appropriate subset libraries and load them during conversion.

Please read the articles and tech tips posted here:

You Don't need AC10 for this it can be done with AC11.

From the manual
…Since ArchiCAD 11 Projects can be divided among multiple ArchiCAD
PLN files, there are two basic ways to migrate your ArchiCAD 9 Projects
and PlotMaker 9 Layout Books to ArchiCAD 11…

Perhaps I should read more...
I don't know why I thought you needed to have 10 to migrate files...Both processes are similar...and apparently achieve the same result...

I haven't personally migrated any 9 files to 11, but I did a fair share of them from version to version ie. 7 to 8...8 to 9...9 to 10...

Thanks for the heads up Eduardo!

Don't worry,

The only reason that I found out was because I had AC11 open and Searched the Help Guide. I though AC10 was the only one too.

You need 10 to go from 11 to 9, which may have lead to the confusion.

I have had good luck creating an archive file in AC 9 and then opening it with AC 11. You can do this from the "save as" dialog box, and choose "archive" from the choices shown. It should then include all the objects and textures used in the AC 9 plan file. Just open the plan in 9 and make sure it shows all the features and library parts you want to migrate over to 11.
