Well thanks all - it is a great ride and I'm as proud as punch.

To answer your question, I have the time to post because of my new sleeping hours of 4am - 7am. Not only can I post, but it also leaves me plenty of time to take my new son on 2 hour mid-night strolls, watch the Directors Cut of Dances with Wolves repeatedly, and sing the Australian, New Zealand and American national anthems until I'm hoarse.

The birth was smooth and the hospital was great - that little red button that sends a nurse in any time of day or night is worth twice the price of admission. Instant lactation consultant/pain relief/advisor/florist/house keeping/room service - we won't have that luxury anymore. Today we came home from the hospital which took most of the afternoon - driving 5km/h with the hazards on. But we're here now and the little tacker has given the new digs his sign of approval with a little vom, a blow of the bum-trumpet and a good nap. Maybe this week we can watch King Kong or the Lord of the Rings trilogy in the wee hours (pun intended).

Until then the ArchiCAD lessons will continue. So far Ethan struggled a little understanding the idiosyncrasies of the floor plan cut plane and really can't grasp why he can't toggle his arrow tool selection methods, dock ALL his palettes or publish his trace reference, but I just tell him baby steps mate, baby steps - Graphisoft will get there eventually.

Thanks for all the warm wishes. It really is great being a dad and sharing this moving event with the ArchiCAD community.

Cheers!

And when his about 10 month, you sit here and say : "Pjuh, I never have time to use ArchiCad anymore, never sleep, only look after him and say.NOOO, don't crash that lamp, don't touch that openfire, don't slam on the computer, noooo, my archicad dongle"

But it's fun though..

Congrats!
He must have gotten his good looks from his mother.

Whens the first AC lesson?
Firstly, congratulations to you and your wife! I'm sure you have been told, but enjoy each day as they will go by soooo quickly.

Speaking of AC lessons, my son called me from college last night with a question about SEO's........yes, despite our wishes for him to have a happy lucrative career in orthodontics, he has chosen to follow the dark side and is now in his third year of architecture school (and loving it).

We kept my son and daughter away from the TV and computer (except for homework) during the week and mostly they played making things from paper, glue and tape. We should have known we were preparing him for a career in design. There is still hope for our daughter tho'........

I never thought I would be a Dad, but now it's hard to imagine not being one. My only advice? Have at least two....lol

I would suggest to think wisely before having a third one, though. Plenty (more) of noise and playing and happiness, but no time for anything anymore.

Good luck, good health and some sleep is all I can wish you.

Don't teach them ArchiCAD too soon. SketchUp maybe, but LEGO might be an even better foundation. And crayons. And dinosaurs. And maybe Bob The Builder. And Miffy/Nijntje of course.
