Archicad 26 tab views - any change?

Hi guys,

I haven't got the chance to try the new AC26 yet (still on 25), but I was wondering if someone knows if they actually listened to a large group of people who wanted/needed the possibility of moving the view tabs to another screen or split the main screen in 2-3-4 windows?

I mean, is that to much to ask? I know Revit has this options since 2019 already. I have attached some screenshots to see what I'm talking about. It would make the workflow so much easier, especially with large projects where you have to pay attention to multiple things when designing.

As an Archicad user since the 6.5 version, I'm quite surprised they don't listen to what actually users need and stop listening to their marketing specialists. I've read posts from various users that are really disappointed with the lack of progress with the latest version. To be honest, when you advertise that you can now copy a circle with the radial stretch command (something available in 2D software for ages), it doesn't give you to much confidence to upgrade.

I'm really tempted to switch to Revit, even if that means starting to learn from basic a new 3D software.

You’ve always been able to detach a tab and open it in a separate window on a secondary screen.

Hi Lee, how do you do it? I've been trying a lot and can't figure it out. I gave up because I thought is not an option.

No --- You can only do that on a MAC. In Windows, you can extend the main window across several screens using the small += tabs in the upper right corner. Then rearrange multiple tabbed windows to fit. Complete garbage on Windows and more trouble then worth. MAC works well. I might also say that the Widows OS does have this capability and  has been used by several CAD programs other than Revit -- Chief Architect -- being available for years.

It would require a re-write of their dialogs to use a different program mode vs the native mode in a MAC.

IOW -- since most large users of Archicad use MACs -- not going to happen??

I use a Mac and it works. As stated below if you’re on windows then it must be different. You should be able to right click on the tab and select undock from tab bar and it’ll change to a window.

Thank you.

Yeah, I imagined that is the case. I am a Windows user and it's very frustrating not being able to do this on Windows. I assume if I extended the main window, still the multiple tabs cannot be viewed simultaneously, as I was thinking, which you can do in Revit and I belive in almost all the 3D modeling softwares.
