Actually a quicker and simpler version (that I picked up from an online video tutorial, I think) is to just marquee the end of the ridge (the place where all 3 planes intersect) and stretch (ctrl-H) to the gable end. That's it.Hmmm - I wonder where you saw this? I can't say that I agree with it. The offending part doesn't actually disappear, which is why you can stretch it back later and have it reappear. The fact that it doesn't disappear means that it could interfere with a find & select, calculations, etc.
Two benefits to this approach: 1. You don't have to erase the offending part (it disappears automatically), and 2. If you change your mind, you just stretch back and you're back to your starting point (haven't used this option until last night at about 2am, so I might've been dreaming).

Kind of slammed and this is the best I can do quickly, perhaps Mr. Ellis can elaborate if you need further assistance, he's definitely your "go to" guy.........I was going to ask if you'd checked the help files on roofs first, which I presume you did, but then looked at them myself.....
What ajoke, no wonder you needed a hand.
