Chamfer railing

Mathias Jonathan

Hello everyone.

I have a railing for which I would like to make a corner chamfer (point A).
I was expecting a similar behavior to all archicad tools (wall, polyline, curtain wall...), but the expected result (line B in red) did not appear. Instead, result C appeared: the chamfer acted "after" point A rather than on point A.

Is this a bug? Or inconsistent behavior?

That can be corrected by adjusting the reference nodes of the railing.

see attached video - https://app.screencast.com/oitajJ51eKreM   The link will only work for a few days.  Then I delete them because my library for that is full and I don't want to pay for more storage 🙂    You can set the distance of the railing reference line to be offset any distance from the railing (if that helps).

Thank you for the answer Steve, but it seems to be a manual solution when railings should behave like any other tool.

It meens that if i want a "clean" solution, i should draw first a polyline and apply a corner chamfer ? or draw circle at each connection as reference?

It is not optimal.

I agree that this is not the expected or proper result when using the Fillet/Chamfer tool.  However, are you certain that there is no way to configure the settings of the railing for the desired result?   Even if there is, drawing a circle and stretching the nodes to get the desired bend could be the more efficient way to get what you want anyway.  ?

" should behave like any other tool...."   It does - it almost does what you need it to do  🙂
