Composites - which side is "exterior" which is "interior"

when adding skins.....I always get these confused.
UP is exterior on the dialogue screen when you are adding skins to your composites and DOWN is interior. If you can keep that straight...then your skins will come in on the correct side when you lay them out.

yup.....now I got it...UP = exterior.....DWN = interior. Top of this diagram that is....I wish they'd include some sort of indicator that says "exterior", "interior".

Technically it is not the 'Exterior' of the wall - it is referred to in the wall settings as the 'Outside Face'.

Before 17 it simply used to be the reference line of the wall.
Now in 17 (and on) it is the outside face and not actually the reference line.
You can now place a wall by setting the reference line to the 'Inside Face' which will give you exactly the same wall but with the reference line on the inside skin
You also have options to place the wall with the reference line at the centre and also outside/inside/centre of core skins.

So by default that first (top) skin in the composite settings is the 'Outside Face' of the wall and as long as you have your wall settings showing 'Outside Face' for the reference line then this is exactly what you will get.

Maybe it should have been called 'Main face' and 'Secondary Face' so when used internally in a building or as a single wall (fence) there is no confusion.

You have a point there Barry.
What happens INSIDE the building with composite skinned walls that have an "interior" and an "interior", then what? but I see your point.
