Does anyone know how to create a sphere (tennis ball shape) using the wall tool in ArchiCAD V8? it needs to be created to house a debating chamber for a town hall inside the circumfrance is 15m at its widest point.

Cheers

I think it's safe to say this cannot be done with the wall tool, since it can only draw linear/rectangular shapes.

You could probably make it with a custom GDL object or with Profiler, but you would not be able to place windows or doors into it.

As Tom says, the Wall Tool cannot do what you want.

But, people like Robert Bissett have has success doing such shapes in ArchiCAD by using Solid Element Subtraction to cut window/door openings, trim walls, etc. to dome structures in ArchiCAD:

For a sphere, you can try using the basic sphere object in the object library...size it and then cut it as needed.

If you have other software, you can model the sphere there and bring it into ArchiCAD as an object (importing 3DS tends to be the most universal method for bringing in such stuff). Or, you might have MaxonForm, and you can do it there.

I wonder if this will be easier in AC10?

A spherical debating chamber? Sounds like an acoustical nightmare.
