Cross Updating Files

I have a large terrain model and have been cutting sections from it and saving those sections as new files. What I want to know is 1.Can I save the removed (copied) sections within the original file - main file 1:1000 / removed section rescaled to 1:200 and 2. If I cant can I automatically up date original file (assuming it is open ) with changes made in section file. The terrain model is an area of 10 hectares/24 acres with sections about .2ha/1acre.
Thanks in advance

If I understand you correctly you have a large site that you divided up for manageability. You can hotlink each section back into one file. Changes made in individual files as you update the hotlinks will be reflected back in the main file.

As for scale, you can save Views at an number of different scales. You save a view at each scale you want to create a final drawing. In this case the drawing refers to the view placed on a layout sheet.
