Hi.
Is it possible to make custom junction for curtain wall - "spider" as in http://www.eckelt.at/en/produkte/systeme/litewall_iso/beschlagsprogramm/spinne.aspx

Hi Jaab,

If the standard spider is not suitable, then yes it would be possible to make a custom one - they are only GDL-based library parts.

If you wanted it fully parametric it may be quite a challenge unless you have good GDL skills. It 'may' be fairly easy to save a dumb object made from slabs/roofs/walls etc from the floor plan if you wanted a quick solution that looked vaguely accurate. Look in the help files for "Saving 3D Models as Objects" for instructions. You will also have to change the subtype to a 'GS Curtain Wall Junction' for it to be recognised by the curtain wall tool.

Hope that helps!

Hi Hema,

Make sure you have positioned the objects on the project origin before saving as a custom junction.

If you have done so and it still is offset to one side, check in the 3d script and remove any extra 'add' commands at the start of the script (along with the corresponding 'del's at the end).

I did a quick test and for some reason no matter how I saved it, it was still offset to the side until I edited the code and removed the 'add's.

Hope that helps.

I know this is an old topic, but this just crossed my mind:

That specific "spider-shaped" junction Archicad is using for it's Curtain wall, how does it effect the structural "side" of the curtain wall?
It connects all the four panels on it's intersection point, but is that junction enough to support the whole structure of the curtain wall?
What about the mullions and beams?

Thank you for the reply.
