How can I type DMS? Is there any tools I used to insert these data?

also note that when typing DMS into the Coordinate box [the only place you can type it into, afaik] you simply use SPACES instead of all the trick characters....

15 23 54

And, with SURVEYOR's units

n 15 23 54 w

Just in case you needed to know.

i can't do it in archicad...so i did it in microsoft excel and export to pmk.
i am guessing that archicad doesn't have the data capabalities and rely on export.

As I recall the copy/paste method is the only way to get the degree character (for now anyway) in ArchiCAD for Windows since it doesn't recognize those silly character codes. (Of course Mac users can easily type ° and ± and other characters with standard key combinations )

You can do so on Windows too:
"Alt+0176" for ° (which is a default key by the way)
"Alt+0216" for Ø (the diamter sign)
"Alt+0177" for ± (the plus-minus sign)
etc...
And it works inside texts in ArchiCAD too.

I couldn't remember if you could type the codes into AC or not. Thanks for the info.

I still find it much easier to type:

"Option 8" for •
"Option Shift 8" for °
"Option =" for ? (oh well, I guess the web doesn't like the single slash "not equal to" symbol)
"Option Shift = " for ±
"Option o" for ø
"Option Shift o" for Ø

and so on...

than it is to remember all those numeric codes.

You can utilize your Character Map (Start> All Programs> Accessories> System Tools> Character Map) to copy any kind of character you want. This is pretty much the same thing as Stefan said, except with a pretty GUI. Mac has the same thing, I just can't reall what it's called right now.

Cheers,
Link.

Now you spoiled my secret!!! You didn't actually think that I had all these symbols in my head, did you?

Well, when you are working in a drawing and constantly need these symbols, you start remembering them. Not much more difficult then "command+option+shift+4"-like shortcuts.

(This particular shortcut was for taking a snapshot of the screen from a rectangle you can point, IIRC. I had to search that one into the help system, while I was working on a Mac and fell from my chair from wrist-pain. Now that is not friendly at all... 😉 )
