How can I type DMS? Is there any tools I used to insert these data?

You can utilize your Character Map (Start> All Programs> Accessories> System Tools> Character Map) to copy any kind of character you want. This is pretty much the same thing as Stefan said, except with a pretty GUI. Mac has the same thing, I just can't reall what it's called right now.

Cheers,

On the Mac there are the Keyboard Viewer and the Character Palette which are exceeding cool

I made a nice screen shot of them but AC-Talk is refusing to let me attach it

Isn't there a 500x500 pixel, 256kb limit?

I thought it was just a file size limit. I'll try something smaller pixel-wise.

Yup, you appear to be correct Link. This image didn't work until I got it under 500x500, though I see no mention of this limit in the Allowed Extensions and Sizes page.

This seems far too restrictive a limitation (and a terrific waste of time figuring it out) many screen shots need to be larger than this too be meaningful. I guess it's time for a trip to the "Forum Related Issues"

And here is the Keyboard Palette...

It changes as modifiers are pressed to display the available characters (my screen capture wouldn't work with a modifier key pressed so it is too much trouble to show).

I am familiar with the Win2K version. Is XP better?

i haven't tried using the character map in archicad but the INSERT/SYMBOL in microsoft excel surely helped to do the bearing table for my site plan.

Hmmmmm. Well that's not what I remembered. Did this change with a later release of Mac OSX? It was called something different too. What you have shown is obviously much better and looks like the perfect solution. For future reference, how do you access these?

I have attached an image of what XP's Character Map looks like. Of course each map is different for different fonts, and if you select one, it will show the keyboard codes (look familiar Stefan? Sorry about blowing your cover! ). For anyone using these for the first time, you can only use these 'alt+' codes with the Numeric Keypad - not the numbers across the top of your keyboard, so make sure your NumLock is on!

Cheers,

You probably don't have it loaded. You will need to go to Start>Control Panel>Add or Remove Programs>Add or Remove Windows Components> select Accessories and Utilities from the list and hit the 'Details...' button. Then select Accessories form the list and hit the 'Details...' button. Place a checkmark next to Character Map from the list, then hit all the OK's.

Then it will appear as mentioned earlier.

This is new to Panther (along with Font Book) and is one of the coolest of many cool features. It is easiest to get at by enabling the input menu in the International System Preferences as shown in the attached screenshot.

The XP Character Map looks pretty much as I remember the one in Win2K. Perhaps Longhorn will have copies of the cool stuff in Panther.
