Editing Motion

I don't know what i did yesterday but the speed of the editing motion for the model views is so fast . It used to 'inch' its way bit by bit when i direct the arrow. it is so annoying that i have to get back to the projection setting to reset the angle again and can't seem to use the editing motion.

is there a setting to slow down the speed ?

version 7 on xphome!

I cen't remember… does V7 have Open GL in 3D? Perhaps you inadevertently turned it on instead of using the snail-like internal engine.

The other thing that speeds up navigation with the internal engine is if you select just one main element in the view before navigating - the engine redraws only that object...

In the faster type views, you need to stay very close to the bounding box with your cursor to not fall on the ice.

OpenGL is a graphics language developed for the gaming industry where polygon surfaces and light effects are represented more quickly - but mostly nasty. Don't ask me how it works.

Once Graphioft licensed this technology for ArchiCAD, we got the quick navigation. But even though ArchiCAD users have taken advantage of OpenGL in creating first-person shooter type fly-throughs of their models, ArchiCAD is still no good for games because ArchiCAD lacks a GDL gun object. [and a GDL blood spatter object and a falling-down thug object] Perhaps these will later get added to the Log Home library alongside the moose head.

No, it does not. He probably turned the contours off or did the bitmap instead of analytic view ...

i have just noticed in the photorendering setting, there is a open GL redner engine in my ac7 ..... yup, rendering appears to be faster but what is the difference to the archicad render engine?

This feature was replaced in AC 8 with full OpenGL support in the 3D Window. In AC 7 you could use this to create a rendering with OpenGL and view it like a model, rotate it, zoom in and out.
Try it and you will see.
Now with 8 and 8.1 you can do the same much better in the 3D Window.

thanks for your information....it's looks like a solid polygon model and generated faster than the archicad render engine..that's what i have noticed so far.

The openGL mode in archicad crashes at my pc all the time.
(RADEON 9200 is maybe causing trouble).
So i use the native engine.

Must be some kind of a driver problem, I would say. Try upgrading to the newest drivers for the graphics card.
