Have a problem with files as of the last two days. Both the CAD and Plotmaker files have been corrupting themselves and then there is an error when re-opening the file.
I saw something about permissions and reviewed this on our server and it doesn't seem to be the problem. (Only one machine of 20 is acting up this way)
We get an error that says that ArchiCAD was unable to erase the temp file. Then it saves the file as "Original######". When you go to re-open the ArchiCAD file, it say unable to open do you want to recover?
The same problem has been happening with Plotmaker. We get an error that splatters "Scratch" files on the server. Then the original gets corrupted and is unable to be open.
I have attached two photos to show the conditions. One is the error message - the second is a picture of the mysterious "original###" file.
We are MAC based running OSX-Tiger
Any answers? Its getting so bad that the one machine completely messed up two entire projects.

Pdeppe -
We have a similar problem - still unresolved - whereby layout files save as 'scratch' files - only with no warning. Next session you work in blissful ignorance on the old file which hasn't been updated!
We were puzzled that this only seemed to happen on certain projects (you say on certain machines) - until we realised that it only happens when you open a file which somebody else has been working on, i.e. only where projects are 'shared' between members of a team.
Maybe this is why your experiencing the problem only on certain machines?
Are you networked through a windows server, by any chance?

Hello,
Yes we have experienced this exact error. Please view the discussion thread we started at:
http://archicad-talk.graphisoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=7571
Or you can browse through the maillist; The subject is ArchiCAD Saving Error and the last post on the thread was on Thursday, July 28th.
I will update you on any new developments. It is obviously a big problem.

Thanks for the confirmation of similar problems.
As for Keith's comments, we too get the Scratch file error on the Plotmaker Layouts. We don't work in teams or use team work in Archicad. We also do not use a windows server. We have a Mac server running Panther.
As for Joe's comments, I actually read your thread prior to sending out my question. I thought this was the problem and refreshed the permissions on the server following steps of Ben Frost with exception of "inherit permission from parent". Perhaps I need to find this because refreshing permissions did not seem to solve the problem.
Are you still experiencing same problem?
We also get a problem - where a file can only be opened as Read Only with Exclusive Privileges or whatever the exact error message is) because the it says the file is already in use by a different author - (who's machine isn't even turned on).

Hello,
Are you running OS Tiger on all of your workstations including the server? On Wednesday August 17th I did a test. Check out the results and ArchiBen's respons if you're interested.
