'External drawing status checking' driving me crazy

In the layout environment, every time I want to do something I need to wait until the idiotic checking decides to stop. It takes a while even after I hit the 'Stop' button. Can I set it to wait longer before starting, or set it to Manual?

What happens if you go to the Drawing Manager, select all Drawings, activate the Drawing Settings Dialog, and set the "Update Type" field to "Manual" for all Drawings? Does it improve it?

I did it and it works temporarily, but I can tell you, archicad ned 6000 is not stable and goes very slow, me and my team are almost unable to work on the project due to how slow it is. It might have to do with switching to windows 11.
