Floods in Hungary

I saw the floods effecting Budapest on BBC.

I pray that the Graphisoft Head quarter's and the Graphisoft Team are safe and well and the situation improves rapid with minimum lost to life and property for all.

The GS offices are atop some pretty high cliffs as I recall. Hard to imagine the flood waters making it that far. Of course things may be quite tough for our Hungarian friends even as their offices stay dry.

Here's hoping everyone stays safe and gets though this with little or no loss.

The water peaked on Sunday evening I think so it has started to slowly recede. GS HQ wasn't flooded but the water got very close to the top of the levee.

We were sand bagging on Friday last week incase it was above that height. Also in the city lots of sand bagging as well, roads are in a bit of chaos and probably will be for most of the week.

Really? I thought I remembered some pretty high banks there. Glad to hear they were high enough.

Yes, it is pretty close.
The map shows it is no more than 150-200 feet.

Just for reference, here's a photo I took with the Danube at a more 'normal' level - note that the water is currently near the top of the wall to the far left.

Things are now getting back to normal.
The Danube reached its peak level about a week ago and its level has been lower steadily. Budapest was fine, so was Graphisoft Park.
The highest level was 891 cm, which was 31 cm higher than in 2006, which was also a record. As you can see from the following image, today is about 300 cm lower than a week ago.
So all is good now.

Great to hear every thing is well in Graphisoft office and there's has been minimum loss to life and property.

Saw the video on YouTube. Ironically it was a chance to see the team in action.

But we have had a very massive cloud burst and flooding here in Northern India(Himalayas) with thousands dead, 15000 people missing and entire town, bridges have washed away.

This is how nature is.

And, Archicad helps us design better and safer.
