Gravity tool problem?

Hello everybody,

If I attach any object ( specially Lamps) using Gravity Tool,
Why it is attached to top of the Slab/Roof or mesh,
Why not to the Bottom??

Is there any solution for this?

Thanks and Regards,

The Gravity tool is designed to locate an object ontop of a plane which might have either an uknown level or is subject ot later movement.

The underside of those elements tends to have a known height.

If you trying to located an object to the underside of a slab, roof and mesh (though i'm wondering in what scenario you are using the mesh tool that would mean affixing anything to the underside) then the best way is to place the object, do a section through the object and then move it in your section, then to group the object and the slab/roof/mesh so that it stays together.

I do agree with Mr Bhirud.

And I would add: When placing the kind of lamps hanging from the ceiling/slab with the lamp tool, the Gravity tool should be activated by default, with the possibility of deactivating the tool manually.

Either the Lamp script or the gravity tool should be able to "request" the slab thickness and place the lamp on the right level accordingly.

Any wish on this field yet?

Thanks for quick reply.

Actually I am using Gravity tool for attaching Lamp to the bottom of the Sloping Roof, where I don't know the height of the specific point.

As any Object is attaches to the top of Slab/Roof/Mesh,
I am creating same Roof/Slab with the help of Mesh having negligible thickness and then making it wireframe and then using Gravity Tool.

But this is not the right way as Archicad claims fast and user-friendly software there should be some direct method.

Just place all your lamps select them, group and elevate them the thickness of the roof with the elevate command. Collision would be a nice feature in AC that would do what you want.

Thanks Jeffrey,

But I don't know Collision In Archicad.

Will you help me ?

There is no collision in AC. "Would be a nice feature..."

But if you use gravity and let all the lamps get place on the top of the roof you can the select them all in one shot and using the elevate command set them all to the bottom of the roof surface. It would be much quicker than selecting each one and adjusting them in elevation.

Edit>Move>Elevate>"- verticle roof thickness".

Thanks Jeffrey,

Ok, Now I got Trick from your reply for using Gravity Tool efficiently.
