I'm working on a structure what works with a complex roof structure (shell).
I have 2 shells
Shell 1 is made with the shell tool.
Shell 2 is made with a complex profile
I don't know if that is the best way to do that. Maybe it is needed to made with the shell tool, but i don't know how.
Shell 1 needs to have a cutout what is shown in the second image (edited with photoshop)
Shell 2 needs to be trimmed or connect like image 4 but i can't figure out how.
Can someone please help this student?

You can draw the contour of the shell in plan, so draw it without the part you want to remove.

You can make dome shells, BTW, with the Revolved method.

Those clips are from ArchiCAD15, some stuff might have changed a little (particularly with guidelines, editing planes), but in essence the steps are the same.

thanks for your quick reply!
I noticed in the youtube videos, that the horizontal radius is equal to radius vertical. What I then also see is that it is possible to make an oval dome. but it must be completely 360 degrees. I want to create an arc with the radius up fairly steep but the horizontal radius is large.

Draw your oval 'footprint' using the circle tool, select polyline and hold down space for magic wand to trace the oval, you will get an approximation that are made of circle arcs. You should be able to revolve any shape around any midpoint, you will just end up with 3 or 4 shells to make up that oval, using the midpoints of those circle arcs.
You can also use the morph tool for this, but it is a bit harder to edit afterwards and you cannot put skylights in morph.

It eventually did not succeed me for the way that you gave me as advice.
I also finally found out to trim the complex profile in two ways. which connect it properly to the wall. After that I made a hole in the shell.

what is weird.
Is that i want to remake the building with a different height. and that now. the trim won't work.
