I need to trim the hip to the vault. Can someone please guide me in the right direction?

An SEO with downwards extrusion will do it - roof as target, barrel vault as operator.

If you want the plan view to be correct then you will
need to do something a little more time consuming.
In the 3D window, set the view to top view shaded
and copy two roofs with the flat marque then paste
in the plan view. With the polyline tool trace the edges
of the fills that are the intersection of the barrel vault
and the hip roof plane. Then edit the eave of the hip roof
to follow the polyline. After that, if the barrel vault is
made with the roof tool you can edit the edges of
the rooflits to follow the same polyline.

Good idea Peter. I was trying to think of a way to transfer the line of intersection of the two roofs. Don't you wish SEO's displayed properly in plan too?

I think you could probably just use the Pet Palette to cut a hole out of the roof. It would look right in plan, too. (Unless I seriously misunderstand your problem)

Yes, Tom, but Peter's method shows you exactly where to stretch to with the pet palette.

Pity you can't use "trim to roof" on a roof?

With all due respect, I'm with Tom on this. You gotta let ArchiCAD do the work for you.

Ctrl click the roofs to each other to determine where they meet, then use the pet palette to cut the hole out. You may need to use the pet palette again on the join to mitre them, but it is much easier and logical to use that method IMHO.

Cheers,
Link.

Duh, what was I thinking. Been doing a lot of that on weird shaped roofs that would have transferred to this barrel vault situation....

I need a holiday

Careful Link, now that the Kiwis have beaten us 3 nil,
we'll be lucky to get a word in without some ribbing.

I'm surprised Ben hasn't chimed in already
