How to get rid of no plug-in warning

I tried out a plug-in, but don't want to use it. I have removed it from the add-on folder, and any reference I can fine. But, I am getting the warning that the plug-in is missing, which I actually know. I tried in the manager, but it stays dimmed. There has to be a way... yes??

Have you tried un-checking the check box on the missing add-ons message? Does it keep coming back?

Yeah, but it only works for that file. Each additional file requires the same thing. I have probably opened 6 or 7 different file today. I have hundreds, and if I have to uncheck it for all of them, I am going to be pissssed.

Unfortunately, that's your only option, Rick.

Here's the thing: addons are allowed to store data inside your PLN file for their use. Many don't, but some (like the grid) do.

The checkbox is asking if you want to delete that data from the PLN file or not.

Checking or not checking will not affect the performance of the file. But, you'll keep getting asked the question each time you open such a file until you either load the associated add-on, or agree to permit the data to be deleted.

Imagine if the question were not asked: someone in the office who does not have an essential add-on loaded loads your file, and AC automatically deletes the data - then you open the file and the data required for the add-on is gone. It's a pain, but I think it is a fair approach.

Of course, maybe every add-on should warn the user before creating data inside the project file just so that you know what is happening and that the file or even a PLA will not have full functionality if given to someone without the add-on... A wish?

And did you have just one version of AC running when you did it?

Thats for the info. I am transferring over to the new computer right now, so I will be reinstalling AC (Intel/PPC), maybe it will forget about it. Yes, a warning would have been nice, but better would be a purge button somewhere. Seems reasonable. I made some speed test, so once I repeat on the new one, I'll post.

I probably had 3 or 4 running. Not sure which panel you are referring to? I did with what I ran across. In the manager the remove is dimmed. It should be on the screen shot.

Well firstly, Karl may and probably does know something that I don't about this, so maybe your add-on behaves differently to what I am used to.

Anyway stranger things have happened, so let's give it a go. But try this with just one version of AC running and see if it works globally. Just follow the steps in the image. Once the warning has been unchecked, the 'Remove selected Add-ons' button should become available.

I think I got it, based on what Link said. I saw a little warning triangle with an "!" in it, so I selected it, yet the remove stayed dimmed. Even though there is no check box, it does uncheck, and then can be remover.
