How to have two different roof materials?

Noody

Hi guys,

After an hour of searching on the forum, the problem I have, i couldn't find the solution or an article about it. But my question is, is there any way i can make two different roof materials? In the image attached, inside the house theres gonna be Gypsum. But on the outside, it should be wood. On the balcony, the outside should be all in wood as it is in the picture, but inside, as i said, i need on the outside to have wood, not gypsum. Is there any way to achieve that?

As I am quite fond of saying, "model it as it is built".

The ceiling panels will be added separately, so model them separately.

Modelling the roof surface and the batten/insulation space as one roof is OK if they will be over the entire roof area, and then model the linings as other separate roofs.

You could leave it all as one as you show here, then model just the eaves lining and use Solid Element Operation to subtract it from the main roof.

I have had similar situations. In one case I duplicated the roof and cut the internal out with a slightly different composite, though we ended up dropping ceilings in on that one... The other case, the roof was curved, so I had two different Complex Profiles, one of which had the internal lining in the middle section.

Still, it is generally better to model it as Barry has said, then you can change your ceilings and linings if needed without worrying about the main roof constuction.
