How to make a non-ortho hole in a wall?

How to resolve this? I need to make the windows cut a non-ortho hole in walls... I had a similar question a few days ago regarding skylights and holes in roofs, but I have absolutely no idea how to work this out!

In 2D I can create a patch, and in 3D I can use SEO to make the kind of hole I need, but for every change I make, the process must be repeated. Is there a way to do this really easy?

Just a quick thought: add to the two vertical walls a wall end chamfer and a second empty window on top of your existing opening

Hope this helps

Tried it... not good... 😞

Anyone with some other idea? I'll lose a lot of time modelling this... 😞

The only way i can think is to make a special window which has oversizes to each end and back fills the missing shapes. it could be just an opening with the window superimposed. Maybe there already is a window part like that already around.

Not particularly satisfactory, but you can do a hack job using a very thin wall for the window and lines for the sill, if needed use oversize or a superimposed empty window to make up the ends.
for 3d
make up the rest of the wall with Hidden wall parts which are above/below the window. Not likely to be perfect though.

There is a solution with the GDL WALLHOLE instruction.

The wallhole can be skewed using the x,y,z 1,1,1, kind of thing. I used this for my log wall chamfer opening that actually cuts the wall instead of putting a wedgie in.

See the GDL manual for instructions.

How I learned this was trying to make a splayed opening for a log wall home client. The basic splayed/chamfered opening makes a big wallhole and adds a filler bit.

So hick.

Naturally, this sticks out of a log wall.

I wasn't also thrilled with my solution.

And this is a typical example of the tasks I was arguing about in AC. We need more flexibility in modeling such (theoretically simple ) parts.

Second solution (the one I always avoid suggesting):

http://www.archi-media.ch/archicad/download/bibliothekselemente/bibliothekselemente.html#Anchor--Mod...

there is an empty window with non orthogonal sides , but the angle is adjusted by distance from each side and it has also a small posts for the adjustment of your opening which is more accurate IMHO for construction.

The WALLHOLE diagram in the GDL manual certainly indicates that the angle of the "infinite tube" relative to the wall can be defined, but for the life of me I can't figure out exactly how.

It says "x,y,z: optional direction vector (default is door/window Z axis.)," but communication is not happening for me here. Can anyone supply a simple example for the GDL-challenged ? Can the angle of the tube be parametrically defined?

Just the thing for the problem at hand, although you will still need to write a script for the 2d symbol. Unfortunately, none of this shows up in plan by itself.

It seems to me this will not cut a hole like the splayed reveal opening in the standard library. For that you almost have to cut the larger opening and then add the symmetrically canting wall bits on either side. AH, unless you use two overlapping wallholes slicing through at symmetrical angles?
