It may not be worth it for this one project but I use this tool more than any other add-on I have purchased for AC. I use it for almost of my framing including trusses and many other things. Check out the site videos and you will get some idea of what you may use it for. It is just so versatile. You will not be sorry. Cough up the bucks!

Personally i would model the top layer of your roof a little thicker and SEO a lot of little sheets out of the roof to create the profile then I would go with a vectorial hatch for such a fine detailed extrusion.
