Importing survey into mesh

my surveys come in as .dwg Most come without .shx files. The book mentions xyz, could I interpret pts to xyz and get the result in AC14? or what do I tell the surveyor as to the form of the file I need to implement this feature in AC14

Hi Duane
Thanks for posting this object.
Not had to work with meshes but the tiniest amount so far so please forgive
if I'm not getting something basic here.
First image is of basic test mesh I created, with your object placed on top and peaks of mesh showing above.
Second image (next post) is what I get seen in 3d after doing "intersection" seo with mesh as target and your object as operator, and your object then put on hidden layer.
Somehow it does not seem right, so think I missed something here.
Third image is what I see in 2d.
Am I missing something simple, or just messed the whole thing up?
Would appreciate comment when you get time.

Second image
After seo and operator on hidden layer.

EDITED: Well now I know why it looks funny.
It's before I changed default setting of mesh to all same materials.
See 4th post above.

Now with mesh set to wire frame, things are looking better for 1st try in 3D.
But can't get 2d(next post) to look like this 3d which seems like I might be getting there if I could only get 2d to look like this 3d based on this simplistic test mesh which does have straight lines, and no soft contours.

And now 2d with same settings as previous post, just below.
But obviously somethings still not right.

Here is "second" image with all edges same, before wireframe in 3d.

Its the 2d that is being such a booger.

Here is a separate but related question; My civil engineer represents engineers well and can't get me the xyz, or text file, but he will, though in the mean time after several calls and emails he has finally sent me the wrong set of files that are in DTM formate. Does anyone know if there is a way to translate that out into a xyz or text file without the platform of genesis.

So the surveyor sent me the points file as an .auf

Never heard of this file ending. Can I just change it to a .txt file or am I still up the river?

wow!

I just changed the auf to a .txt and all I can say is wow, it works!

ok, now you see it! How do I chop off about 200 feet from the bottom?

I tried importing a surveyor's data file in .txt format with the new mesh improvements in AC14. AC did not state any errors with the file, allowed me to choose options from the units dialog box, previewed the overall shape of the site, and allowed me to click on the plan at a location of my choice.

The only thing is - nothing happened after I clicked. No delay, no message, just nothing. And there is nothing there. I tried again with the option of placing it at original location and the same thing occurred.

The .txt file is in rows of data like below:

2,21458.9837,18749.24411,491.96,TRAV PIN
3,21518.36934,18487.53931,496.65,TRAV PIN
4,21682.79711,18483.56612,502.68,TRAV PIN
69,19842.01943,18999.61536,-9999,TRAV PIN
70,19950.32139,18999.80376,-9999,TRAV PIN
71,20085.77784,18834.31791,-9999,TRAV PIN

Appears to be ok with point #, northing, easting, and elevation (x,y,z). The only things I question is the frequent elevation with -9999 like the one shown and the lack of points between 4 and 69. Could those contribute to my mesh not producing? If the .txt file appears to be in error, wouldn't AC have not only informed me but also been unable to preview the outline?

Thanks - just wanted to see if I could have something to start discussion with before I respond to the surveyor for further inquiry.

This works for me:
