Matt, I had held out for a long while. Iwas using a 667 mHz powerbook and a dp 450 mhz power mac. The macbook pro is quite a bit faster-in some areas it clearly rivals a G5.

Well, it's May 2006. Graphisoft has had literally years of lead time from Apple to move the project to Xcode, and had a long head start with intel-based Macs.

I think Graphisoft had wanted it to be ready, but then Apple went ahead with the hardware six months early. Read what Adobe and Microsoft has to say about moving a program this large, and about the status of the current development tools! Why move to Xcode when it was an inferior development tool for large apps? But that's history now.

Where's the Universal Binary? What's the status? In January we were told Graphisoft was 'close to finishing'. Why did intel Macs have to hit the marketplace before Graphisoft even acknowledged any work was being done towards a Universal Binary?
I am beginning to strongly suspect no Universal Binary of ArchiCAD 9 will surface. And given the reports of ArchiCAD 10, that definitely endangers ArchiCAD's place within our practice.

And it's one thing to port a small Cocoa application that was developed in XCode in the first place, but it's a complete other thing to port a humonguous carbonized CAD application with roots in the old Mac OS from Codewarrior over to XCode. They will do it (they have to) but it'll take time. Don't wait for AC9 to be ported. This has no commercial backing from users. AC10 will have to be ported, but not with the first release.
Even Photoshop, a long time Mac-favorite, is not ported yet. Cinema4D is😉

I understand that AC10 will run native on the Intel Macs (I sure hope so as I am writing this on my new 17" MacBook Pro) and it also seems that it will be far sooner than Adobe or MS get their versions out (again I am hoping this to be true).
Thing A: wow, Graphisoft will actually update AC 9 to universal binary

Does anyone know when we will be getting a Universal Mac version of AC 9 or 10??

... I just launched AC9 on my brand new 17" MacBook (arrived today) and it is quite respectable...
I'll be installing XP anywayBoot Camp or Parallels? I found this picture of running Windows in Parallels along with something called Virtue Desktop - one click to switch - looks cool!
