Is it possible to select something to hide it in 3Dwindow?

Now you have to select - marquee what you want to see in the 3D window.
I want to do the opposite - I want to select the objects I want to hide.

Is it possible to do that? Some hidden command to do that?

in View > Elements in 3D View > Filter Elements in 3D you have the option to see what is inside OR what is outside the rectangular or poligonal marquee.

I partly agree with you, it would be not-complex to program an "hide from 3D" command, but surely it is much more than one line of code. Maybe more than some hundred. (at least to add the command to the regular and context-menu, to give it an ID for the WE, to make it accessible for the add-ons API, etc.).

In the meantime you can
1) select the item(s) you want to hide (with the arrow, not the marquee) then
2) use again the arrow, with the Shift key, to drag a rectangle enclosing the whole project, so reversing the selection.
3) Now you can use the "Show selection in 3D" command to hide what you selected before (in 1).
Just one (annoying) extra step.

Thanks to all of you for your tips and tricks! on how to hide something in the 3D window.

New to Archicad - I am sorry to hear:
In the meantime you can
1) select the item(s) you want to hide (with the arrow, not the marquee) then
2) use again the arrow, with the Shift key, to drag a rectangle enclosing the whole project, so reversing the selection.
- PS - you have to Zoom All first - loosing what you have in sight!
3) Now you can use the "Show selection in 3D" command to hide what you selected before (in 1).
Just one (annoying) extra step.

That´s it - one annoying extra step - you have to do hundreds of times!

When it is so easy to program this . one line of code - or am I wrong?
Any programmer of Archicad willing to step forward?
How many lines? one, two, three... hundreds, thousands, ... ?

I have learnt how you can hide something in 3D in so many ways in Archicad. Still I want to do it in the easy way - just select something in 3D to hide it.

So did you made it a "wish" in the "User interface wishes" section of the forum? This way we can count how many users have the same need.

Or...

1. In 3D with the arrow or marquee tool active use Select All (command/control + A) to select everything.

2. Shift click to deselect the items to be hidden.

2A. Zoom or pan only as needed for further deselections.

3. Right click for "Show Selection in 3D"

To hide a single item this takes about 2 seconds.
