Lost functionality of shift and option keys in AC 8.1

I seem to have lost the ability to use my shift key to constrain along the x and y axis. Also, I can no longer use my option key to copy an object in the drag, mirror, etc... commands. These should be default settings in ArchiCAD 8.1, but I cannot find them. javascript:emoticon('')

Please Help!!!

Mac or Windows?

Hardware?

Any more detailed symptoms?

Not that I have any ideas myself. I have never seen such a thing, but more detailed info might help. It's best to just put it into a signature line and forget about it until the next time you upgrade something.

We have seen the loss of the drag a copy function in certain section windows in Teamwork. Re-definining your workspace (with no changes even) seems to fix the problem, if only temporarily. I'm not sure what is causing the loss of function.

I am on a Mac OSX platform, and it is one particular machine in our office with the problem. It is making it quite difficult to be productive since these are the most basic functions in AC. To my knowledge there are no other symptoms. Shift will not constrain to an axis, and option will not create a copy. I've never seen this before!javascript:emoticon('')

Try to clean out your preferences files. They might be corrupt, and deleting them could help.

Delete these:

HOME/Library/Preferences/com.graphisoft.acXXXXXXX.plist files
HOME/Library/Preferences/Graphisoft/AC 8.1.0 v2/ .Prefs files

we had similar experiences with an architect in Berkeley, and we couldn't really pinpoint it, at one point trying even the delete and reinstall.

It seemed that once you quit archicad and restart the system it worked again for a while, but we didn't have enough time to figure out which application (classic?) causes the trouble.

Throwing away the preferences Gergely so ably pointed to didn't help us, but it might be microclimate

So it says a mistery, but we need to get the jobs out the door...

This is a complete shot in the dark but have you tried
repairing the disk with the mac install disk disk utility?
I have found that with every AC upgrade there is at least
one "invalid BSD file" created by AC.
When I installed AC 8.0 v1 disk repair found over a hundred
invalid BSD files and the application was doing all kinds of strange
things.
Also I have found that AC will behave strangely until one upgrades
the OS to a newer version. My theory is that the dynamic pre binding
is corrected when the OS upgrade does a new system optimization.
This is a guess because I know nothing about operating systems.
I do know that often these "rabbits feet" do fix things.
Just a thought,
