Although it is a sometimes work around, try deleting the elevation plan reference and making a new one. Sometimes it is faster and easier to start over when a view gets to be difficult.

Select the section line of the elevation that is making trouble, Cut, and Paste. Open now - it should be OK.

If you have any 2D linework done in the elevation, it will go, so - drag a copy of the elevation first, make it zero depth, and later you can drag the linework over to the new one.

I took a look at the file. After tediously copying and pasting everything minus the sections into new file and testing to see if it worked (apparently the 3d view was crashing also), I found out that the culprit was a roof+gutters assembly. I didn't have the patience to explore futher (if it was the roof or the gutters, though there were only 2 gutters and 4 roof planes). So after locating it, I just duplicated the problem elements with new ones (did not match the problem ones).

Everything appears to be back to normal now. Hope it's an isolated case, but I seem to remember encountering something like this in the past. I'm surpriesed that merge into a new file didn't work here. I thought that was supposed to fix stuff like this.
