Marquee Tool not working to create 3D cut

The Marquee tool will not produce a 3D cutaway? Just shows the model with some of the elements in the box but they are not cut?

Just a guess, check your renovation filter.

Just found it. The check box for Trim Elements to Marquee in the 3D Filter box
