Modeling a Difficult Barrel Roof

I'm some of you may be sick of me already, but again tried searching for past answers but not really found anything applicable (although I may be blind). I'm trying to model a complex barrel shape roof of a train station. I've included a plan (google earth) and some reference pictures.

If you have any ideas and possibly explain your answers as am new to the program i'd be grateful.

I'm not familiar with Objective. Do I understand correctly using "Split Objects in 3D" instead of SEO workaround, everything will show up fine in plan?

Yes, cutting objects shows up correctly in every view. There is an example here: http://archicad-talk.graphisoft.com/viewtopic.php?p=119267&highlight=#119267

Making the station profile with OBJECTiVE also has the added benefit that the form can be bent to a curve and simultaneously rise - it's not unusual for this to happen, especially for underground stations. And, as Erika pointed out, OBJECTiVE is free for educational users.
