Objects not staying on correct story

I'm working in a .pln originally created in 16, now saved as 17. I have beams and walls on the Roof Story. If I make any modifications to these items whatsoever they show on the story below. I have to reassign their story attachments and their elevations. Why is this happening?

In the tracker you have to uncheck "By Elevation" and select a story. This was one of the major change with 17 that was driving everybody nuts.

Once you do that if you want to move an object from one floor to another you need to use the 'Relink to Home Story" option.
